FIXED XPC-RC01 not found

by Hairan Fri Jan 22, 2010 am

Hey.

I downloaded the trial of your software and it is exactly what I need, only problem is that it does not work with my remote.

I got a XPC-RC01 receiver with a remote that came with it. From a HP computer. Problem is that the software can t find it.

I looked in another thread with the same remote, and also tried the beta you linked there, but same result.

If it in some way starts working with my comp I will definetly buy the full version.

Try this

Run Start- Programs- Intelliremote- HID TEster.

Press buttons on your remote, do they generate MCE Strings in the bottom window. If so you need to paste the VID and PID of each USB device in the top part of the screen so I can add your remote to Intelliremote.

Ye they do. I got 3 different vid/pid that generate MCE Strings on atleast on button on the remote.

They are:

VID 3353 PID 3713

VID 056A PID 1001

VID 056A PID 2001

VID 056A PID 2002

Can you make an updated trial so I just can make sure it works, and if it does I will buy full version asap.

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. Let me add these VID pids and I will send you a BETA trial so you can try it out before you decide to purchase. Thanks for reporting this new remote. Do you know what Brand it is so I know what to call it. Or is XPC-RC01 all that is on the label. It looks like it is made by Intervideo.

It only says XPC-RC01 on the receiver and nothing on the remote. I think it comes with all HP OEM computers with a Asus TV Tuner, but wouldn t surprise me if it was Intervideo as their software came with the computer too. The remote looks like this:

The device shows up now. But the program only reacts on the back, mute, and volume keys on the remote. That was also the only buttons that generated MCE Strings in the HID Device Tester. I am running Windows 7 if that makes any difference.

Some of the other keys like the arrow keys, close on the remote works by default in windows, but Intelliremote doesn t show anything when pressing them.

I also have another receiver, SB X-Fi Midi Port, which I don t use cause that ir-receiver is stuck in the front of the computer. Does that make any difference maybe.

Here is the log:

That explains it. Only keys that generate MCE Strings in HID Tester can be mapped by Intelliremote. Which explains why the tray blinks only for the ones that sent MCE Strings.

The rest of the buttons is your remote just sending normal keyboard keystrokes. A lot of the Chinese knock-off remotes works this way which is why I don t recommend them. You can use programs like AutoHotKey to trap the keyboard keystrokes your remote is sending.

Ok, that kind of sucks.

You know if it is possible to use the Creative X-Fi remote with the receiver for the XPC-RC01 in some way.

Hairan wrote:Ok, that kind of sucks.

You can use HID Tester and see what kind of output you get. Most PC Receivers are listening for a specific type of IR Fruquency. So for example the Microsoft MCE REmotes listen for RC6 type IR so any remote that sends RC6 type IR can be pointed at the receiver. THe Creative X-FI remotes might be sending RC5 type IR.

But luckily with the HID tester you can point all kinds of remotes at your receiver and at least try them.

Is the XPC-RC01 built into your case. If not a receiver that works with almost ALL kinds of IR is the USB-UIRT.

by Hairan Sun Jan 24, 2010 pm

Nope, my CReative x-fi is, that is why I want to use the XPC-RC01 receiver for the Creative remote. WIll look into USB-UIRT then. Thanks for help.

Oh if your X-FI is built into your case why not pick up a X-FI remote really cheap. I have an X-FI remote and I love it. They work out of hte box with Intelliremote especially because you have an internal X-FI receiver.

I got both the X-Fi remote AND receiver. The problem is that I don t want to have the IR receiver in the same room as the computer, and the IR receiver for the X-FI remote is stuck in the front of the computer. THis card and frontplate :

So I would need a usb connected external receiver for my X-Fi remote. You know if their are any custom ones to order.

If no line-of-sight to your PC is your requirement you want an RF remote instead of an IR Remote. Find a cheap ATI Remote Wonder. It works with Intelliremote out of the box and is RF so it goes through walls and doesn t need line of sight to work.

The ATI Remote Wonder, and Wonder Plus work great, do NOTget the Remote Wonder II as they don t work with Intelliremote.
